Measuring Your Dog’s Neck

The correct fit is important for your dog’s comfort and safety. As each collar is made individually so please measure your dog’s neck carefully before ordering. The size of the collar refers to your dog’s neck measurement, not the total length of the finished collar.

How to measure

  1. Use a flexible tape measure and place it around your dog’s neck, approximately 2.5 cm below the ears, where the collar will naturally sit.

  2. Hold the tape measure comfortably around the neck. It should be snug, but not pulled tight.

  3. Record the measurement in centimetres.

  4. This measurement will correspond to the centre hole of the collar.

Our collars are made with five adjustment holes, with 2 cm between each hole. This provides useful adjustment while keeping the end of the collar supported by the keeper.

Example

If your dog’s neck measures 45 cm, the centre hole will be positioned at 45 cm. The available adjustment will then be approximately:

  • 41 cm

  • 43 cm

  • 45 cm

  • 47 cm

  • 49 cm

Please do not measure an existing collar

Do not measure the total length of an old collar. Different makers position their holes in different places, so the total length of an existing collar will not give an accurate measurement of your dog’s neck.

Always measure your dog’s neck directly using the method above.

If you are unsure about the measurement or which size to choose, please contact us before ordering. We are happy to help.

Please note: The centre-hole measurement is the measurement of your dog’s neck. It is not the overall length of the collar.
